1) Importing graphics

Importing graphics

To create a scenario of an interactive quiz stage-a background, quiz master, contestant etc need to be created. You have already learnt to change the background of the scene. In this case, the graphic part that includes various components need to be created or downloaded. Created or downloaded graphics can be imported in three ways:
Importing from scratch inbuilt graphics library
Creating a graphic using any raster or vector image tool and then importing it
Creating a graphic in the scratch using inbuilt raster or vector image tool (available in scratch 2.0 or online editor)

Inserting the existing graphic:
Keep the graphic ready in your folder by downloading from web and from any collection.
For example, the below shown image can be downloaded from web.

Now this graphic can be added in the similar way of adding the background.

Creating a graphic using any raster or vector image tool and then importing it:

Raster Graphics and Vector graphics can be created using any of the image creation tools like MyPaint,Inkscape, etc and import it in scratch in the similar way you have imported the existing graphic. Remember to save the created graphics as png, jpeg or bmp formats as the source files cannot be used directly.

Creating a graphic in the scratch using inbuilt raster or vector image tool

This way of creating graphic is only available in scratch 2.0 or above version or online scratch editor.

When you work in online scratch platform or Scratch 2.0 version , if you click on paint new sprite to insert a sprite on the stage , in the right side the paint editor will opens up for editing.

Online paint editor or Scratch 2.0 has an extra feature of Bitmap mode/ vector mode as shown below.

1. Vector Mode

2.  Bitmap mode

By default, vector mode is selected, to change the  mode, select convert to bitmap mode option.  Tools in these modes differ from one another. In bitmap mode the tools appears such that you can only use them to draw on a canvas, whereas in vector mode, the images can be moved, multiplied etc.

Once you complete creating your own graphic, save it by right clicking on graphic and selecting the option Save to local file.
