 Making photographs look older / creating vintage effect

    we can create a new image by applying effect on existing image in gimp. Lets us understand how we can do this by different effects. We have given below few guidelines, you are free to experiment with different values so that you will get different images.
   
    Vintage means old, everybody will have so me memory associated with old things, right!. In this handbook you will learn how to change any photo into old vintage photo by applying simple right tools of gimp.



1) Open the desired image in gimp for applying vintage effect.
2) Once you've opened your photo, go to Colors > Brightness-Contrast... and set the contrast to+20.

3) go to Colors > Hue-Saturation.. and adjust hue to -11 and saturation to 21.(Adjust according to your convenience)

4) Now go to Colors > Curves. Select "Red" from the Channel drop-down and adjust the curve.

5) Next, adjust the "Green" channel and “Blue” channel.Click “ok”.
6) Go to Colors > Hue-Saturation again, adjust the values again.


7) Create a new layer. Set its opacity to about 50%.Select the ellipse select tool and draw a selection that covers your entire canvas.


8) Go to Select > Feather by 150px:

9) Go to Select > Invert.
10) Fill your selection with black.
Select the fill tool from the tool box, Select black color in foreground color. Click on the image selection to fill it with black colour. Right click anywhere on photo, click select > None  to dismiss slection. You will get an image like below.





11) To give your photo a pinkish tone associated with sun burn of old photos,
 create a new layer.
Set its opacity to about 8%.
Fill it with a very vivid magenta (#FF0090).

12) So… finally  you will get a beautiful vintage image.. wow! what a beautiful picture!
