Making a composite image using layers
Select File, New, and create an image of desired pixels (say 1920 x 1200). Let us name this layer as background.
Here we are going to make a composite picture using three picture.
In this handout you are going to make a composite picture with the help of above three pictures.
1. Open sea shore photo in background layer.
2. Add a new layer (say layer 1)
3. Open the image of the boat in the GIMP
4. Copy the image of boat and paste it in layer 1.
5. Resize the image of the boat using “scale” tool (Shortcut shift +T )
6. Move the image of the boat to the place where ever you want to move using the “move” tool.
7. Then add the second layer (say layer 2)
8. Open the image of the flying bird in GIMP
9. Copy the image of flying bird and paste it in layer 2.
10. Resize the image of the bird using “scale” tool (Shortcut shift +T )
11. Move the image of the bird to the place where ever you want to move using the “move” tool.
12. By using all of the layering techniques and the editing tools, you can easily create a photo collage in Gimp.
13. Export the image in jpj image format. The collage of above three image is given below.
