Refine layer masks - feathering, dodging and burning:
Feather:
1. Open GIMP on your system.

2. Go to file, select opes as layer or press Ctrl+Alt+O.

3. Find, Select image and press open.
4. Right click on the image then go to Rounded Rectangle as shown in pic below.
5. Choose to radius by sliding the bar (I used 80% radius). Press ok.
6. Right click on the image then go to Feather. Select feather pixel you desired (I used 50px). Press ok.
7. Now right click on the image then go to Invert or simply press Ctrl+I.
8. Again Right click on the image then go to clear or press delete.
9. Final output
Dodging:
1. Add another image to the current feathered image on a new layer by pressing Ctrl+Alt+O.
2. Make sure your second image is bigger or similar in size of first image. Or resize later.
3. Now go to layer tab and place first layer on top.
4. Now bring down it opacity to 50% or more.
5. Final output.
Burning:
1. For burning, select dodge/burn tool from or press Shift+D. and select type burn.
2. Now you can select size and type of brush from left and right panel respectively. Slide exposure to 80.
3. Hover your mouse to the part of the you like to burn. Press and hold left mouse button and move the mouse.
4. Final output.
