10) Tools to enter Indic language

Tools to enter Indic language             
   
The common input methods in Indian Languages are:

InScript/ Language keyboard : InScript or Indian Script keyboards are decreed standard keyboards which are used for typing Indian Scripts.  The keyboards use the standard 104-105 keys layout. These keyboards support languages like  Devanagari,Bengali, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil and Telugu, among others. These are physical keyboards which can be attached to the system like normal QWERTY keyboards .
The following is an example of InScript Hindi keyboard.















Transliteration/ Phonetic keyboard : Phonetic keyboard uses English characters to write Indian language text. The basic QWERTY Keyboard can be used to input in Indic Language, if this mode of input is selected. E.g. to write a hindi word , “ ज्ञान” , if using phonetic mode of inputting , “gyaan” is entered in english which automatically gets changed to “ज्ञान”.

Virtual / Onscreen/ Soft keyboard : A virtual or onscreen keyboard is a full size image of the QWERTY keyboard which is projected on a surface, which is mostly screen. Instead of depressing the keys like in a physical keyboard, the keys are touched (using fingers or any pointing device like mouse/stylus)  to enter the text using the virtual/ onscreen keyboard.
