Internet and its use:


The Internet gives us access to more information and ways to communicate which may not have been possible otherwise. Technically, the 'Internet' and the 'World Wide Web' mean different things.
The Internet is made up of millions of computers from all around the world, linked to each other by a network of telephone lines, cables and satellite connections. The Web or the World Wide Web is the information and the services that we can use. To get onto the web you'll need an internet connection and a device to connect to the internet on.

Internet can be used on computers, laptops and tablets. You can also access the web on the smartphones, some game consoles and even on smart TVs. To access the internet, you'll need an internet connection. Internet connections can be of high-speed like broadband or slower like with dial-up connection. Once you're connected to the internet, it's really quite easy to move around the web and find the type of information you're looking for. To do this you need a browser.

Internet and web is useful in many ways like:
  • Education & Research: Simulations, Articles, Journals, Lectures, Study materials - Images, Audios, Videos, Animations etc
  • Communications & Connectivity: Email, Blogs, Social Networking, Chat rooms, Online forums etc
  • Leisure and Entertainment : Online games, Music, Videos , eBooks etc
  • Exploring the World: Satellite and mapping applications, Travel sites, Encyclopedias etc
  • E-Commerce: Financial transactions, Online banking, Online shopping etc
