Bookmarking
Bookmark is a saved shortcut that directs the web browser to a specific webpage.
To save a webpage for further reference or reading that can be accessed online (that is when there is internet connection), it is best to save the URL of the webpage. This process of saving the URL of the web page is called as bookmarking.
Steps to be followed to do bookmarking are listed below.
First step to bookmark a page is to open the web page a person wish to add to the bookmarks. This page can be later visited and revisited, by accessing the bookmark. This process is like manually marking a page in the book with a clip or folding the corner of the page for reference. Bookmarking can be done in several ways.
Method 1: From the menu bar
1. Go to Bookmarks in the menu page and select 'Bookmark This Page' from the drop down list.
-
The following window appears which allows a person to name the bookmark and choose its location. After choosing the location and giving appropriate name, click on 'Done' to complete the process of bookmarking.
-
The bookmark created now appears in the toolbar.
- Method 2: From the toolbar
-
Click on the star-shaped icon on the location bar. On clicking on it, the star will turn yellow, meaning the page has been bookmarked.
-
On clicking the star icon again, 'Edit This Bookmark' window will appear which allows a person to select the name and location of the bookmark. After choosing the location and giving appropriate name, click on 'Done' to complete the process of bookmarking.Method 3: Shortcut key
'Ctrl+D' can also be used for creating a bookmark. On pressing the Ctrl+D, “Edit this bookmark” window (as shown in the above step) opens for entering the location and name for the bookmark. After choosing the location and giving appropriate name, select 'Done' to complete the process of bookmarking. The bookmark is created now.
