Importing
video into video editor
You
must first import the video clip into video editor, before you can
use a clip on the timeline.
There are a few different ways to import a video clip. The most
common way is to drag and drop files from your computer into the
project files section of the screen.
Open
the application and the project screen appears as shown below.
Then
follow any one of following methods to import a video clip into the
project:

Drop files/ folder
Files can be imported into a video editor by dragging and dropping single/ multiple files/folder from the desktop to the space for project files as shown below.
When
you want to add multiple files, first select all the files by press
ctrl key and clicking on the required files and then drag all the
files into the project window.
When
a folder containing
media files is
dragged from the
desktop
and dropped in the
space provided for project files,
all
the media
files inside the folder will appear under project files.

- Open With
-
Select the file you want to open.

Right click on the selected files, and choose open with other application...

Choose openshot video editor (or the open shot command) and the selected file will appear in the space provided for project files.

– Import from file menu or using
import button

Go to file menu and select import files.
This same action can also be done
by clicking the import button

A window opens as shown below. Select the files to be added from its location and click 'Add' button. The selected video clip will be imported into the video editor.
