User defined function: Min, Max, Sum, Avg
Function wizard in Spreadsheet helps to find the maximum, minimum, sum and average with the help of user defined functions. To open the Function Wizard, choose Insert > Function, or click the fx button on the Formula bar.

Once selected, the Function Wizard appears as shown below:

Select a category of functions to shorten the list, then scroll down through the named functions and
select the required one by double-clicking on it. When you select a function its description appears
on the right-hand side of the dialog. The Wizard now displays an area to the right where you can enter data manually in text boxes or cells from the worksheet (If the function wizard is hiding the data, click at the top of the wizard and drag it to the side)
MINIMUM and MAXIMUM:
Decide where you want the answer to be displayed and select that cell. Open the function wizard select category ‘Statistical’ and then select the option ‘MIN’ (minimum) from the list by double clicking on it. Select all the data out of which you want to find the minimum.
To select cells, either click directly upon the cell or hold down the left mouse button and drag to select the required area. When the area has been selected, click the Shrink button again to return to the wizard. You can also manually write the cell reference or range where the numbers have been entered.

Now click the ok and the result will appear on the spreadsheet in the selected cell. Follow the similar step for finding the maximum by selecting category ‘Statistical’ and then select the option ‘MAX’ (maximum)

(Tip: Lowest population - Minimum population and Highest population - Maximum population)
AVERAGE:
Average of the given data can be found using the function ‘Average’. This function is found under the category ‘statistical’. Follow the similar steps of finding MIN and MAX to find the average using the function ‘Average’.

On clicking OK, the average value of the selected data appears in the selected cell.
SUM:
SUM is a function under the category ‘Mathematical’ which helps in finding the total of the selected data. Follow the similar steps as in other functions.

Now to conclude the general steps to be followed to find sum, average, minimum and maximum are:
1. Select the cell where the answer needs to be displayed
2. Open function wizard
3. Select the function category and function name
4. Select the data
5. Click OK
(Note: If you see the formula in the cell instead of the result, then Formulas are selected for display in
Tools > Options > LibreOffice Calc > View > Display. Deselect Formulas, and the result will display. However, you can still see the formula in the Input line.)
