3) Tracing and Colouring the Geometrical Shapes using GeoGebra

Tracing and Colouring the Geometrical Shapes using GeoGebra

We have discussed drawing and colouring pictures till now. In this section, we are going to discuss tracing and colouring the shapes in the picture, which we already have.
Opening the existing file: To open a new file,
double click on  GeoGebra icon on your desktop.
Then, go to 'File'---->select 'Open'---->click on 'Handout 03'. The desktop will appear as shown in the Fig. 01.

Fig. 01
We have a rangoli, which consists of polygons in the diamond shape. Let us trace the shapes and colour them.

Tracing outline  of the figures:
Go to 'Toolbar' and select 'Polygon' tool as shown in the Fig. 02.

Fig. 02

Then, start drawing polygon by clicking at vertices (corners) of the polygon as shown in the Fig. 03.

Fig. 03
Now, our polygon is ready as shown in the Fig. 04.
We want to colour the polygon, which we have traced just now.

Colouring the shapes:
To colour the polygon shape:
1. Click on the polygon, which you have traced.
2. Graphics bar appears below the Toolbar as shown in the Fig. 05a.
3. Select 'Colour box' as shown in the Fig. 05b.

Select a colour, which you like. Colour the polygon as shown in the Fig. 06.

Fig. 06
Though you have selected the colour, only borders are getting changed. If we want to change the colour of whole polygon, we have to change the 'Opacity'. By dragging 'Opacity' pointer, we can change colour of whole polygon, as shown in the Fig. 07.

Fig. 07
Now again, go to 'Toolbar' and select 'Polygon' tool and trace another polygon, as shown in the Fig. 08.

Fig. 08
Then, click on the polygon you have traced now. Graphics bar will appear. Now, you may colour the polygon with the colour you desire, as you have done earlier, too, as shown in the Fig. 09.

Fig. 09
Continue this process of tracing and colouring whole rangoli. An example of coloured rangoli has been shown in the Fig. 10.

Fig. 10
Now, you can drag the entire diagram and see your prepared rangoli as shown in the Fig. 11.

                    Fig.11
Finally, save your file, which you have prepared till now by new desired name, using 'Save as' option.
