Steps for tweaking star shape

1. Open a new file (the page size selected in the above image is web banner)
2. Zoom in on the page by pressing  ‘+’ key on the keyboard.
3. Click on the star /polygon shape tool
4. Select the star toggle button on the controls bar on the top and draw a star  
5. You would now be able to see that each of the 4 numeric parameters  (corners, spoke ratio, rounding and randomness) present in the controls bar has a specific number.

6. Now change the numbers for each of these numeric parameters using the up and down arrows. As you change the numeric parameters, you will notice that the shape of the star also changes.  
7. You can also tweak the shape of the star by left clicking and dragging the inner handle of the star.  
8. Each of the stars in the image above were drawn by choosing a random number of corners (convex vertices), spoke ratio, rounding and randomness.
9. You can then set the desired colour (fill and stroke) for your stars (refer fill and stroke handout to apply colour).

10. Save your file as SVG or pdf format
