5) Saving spreadsheets


Saving spreadsheets

Spreadsheet can be saved by clicking the file menu and then selecting ‘save’ from the submenu.
The keyboard shortcut to save command is CTRL +S.

 

When you create a new spreadsheet for the first time press ctrl + S or click on the save button , a new window opens up asking to enter the filename and the location where to be saved . By selecting the location, enter appropriate name and click ‘save’.

This saves the file in ‘ods’ format by default. There are the cases when we need to transfer the files to other user who don’t have open office in such cases we can’t forward them the file in ods format. In such cases there is a option of saving the spreadsheet files in other formats like PDF, HTML, XHTML etc. To do this, click ‘save as’ from file menu and in the window that opens, click on the drop down list (shown in below image) that shows all the file formats.

 

From the list of formats select the required format and then click save (Note: ‘,xlsx’ will open in Microsoft office)
