9) Editing already created images

Editing already created images
Image created using mypaint, turtleart or any other images can be edited in inkscape like changing the colour, texture adding other effects etc.
Opening the file
1. Open inkscape on your system.

2. Go to document icon (highlighted) or press Ctrl+O or select File -> Open

3. New window will open. Go to the folder where you have save the image file you earlier created using MyPaint or TurtleArt, then select the image and press open.


The file opens in the inkscape window.

Changing colour
To change the colour of the image, follow the given steps:
1. Select the image
2. Select ‘Filters’ from the menu bar


3. In the dropdown list,  you can then select colour which open new list, where you can choose any option to colour your photo.


For example, when you choose ‘colorize’, the colour of the image changes as given below.

Adding other effects

When you choose ‘Filters’ from the menu bar, the drop down list shows various effects that can be applied on the selected image like changing texture, making image blur etc. Few effects are explained below (Note: Few examples of effects are given below. All other effects can be explored)
For example, the original image is as shown here, the effects and its output are shown in the below table:

Saving file
After editing the new image can be saved by selecting File > Save (Ctrl+S), or Save As (Shift+Ctrl+S) to save under a new name.
