Showing the variety of features on the satellite image.
Context: Do you want to become an arm-chair explorers. Actually it is possible to fly anywhere on the planet and zoom in to see cities, buildings, landmarks, ancient ruins, terrain: anything on Earth. If you want to witness wonders on the earth we can do it with ease sitting on the chairs. Through virtual globe we can get bird’s eye view of a place and observe various natural and human features in a satellite images.
1. Opening of a digital map with satellite view
You already know how to open a digital map with satellite map view in the earlier weeks. Refer to Handout-1 of week 4 SA
2. Locate Haldia from the satellite image through search bar.
a. In the Search bar type the name of your/neighbouring town or city. E.g. Haldia and hit enter button. Refer to Handout 1 of week 4 SA
b. Following image will appear on the screen with popup box showing basic information about the place.
3. Zoom in with the help of zoom slider and show some of the visible features (such as ships in the river, canals, fields, and river islands).
a. 1. River, 2. Ships, 3. Fields, 4. buildings can be seen in the image above
b. River island can be seen in the above image.
c. Refinery complex, Oil tankers, Oil Storage tanks can be seen in the above image.
d. Oil and Gas tanker Trains, Oil and Gas tanker trucks can be seen here.
