Context: You have seen some of the features through satellite image. Both human activities and natural environment keep on changing. How can satellite images help us to visualize changes in Earth’s surface, both natural and human-made? This can be observed easily through Digital maps and virtual globes.
1. Zoom in with the help of slider bar to a selected place (such as the Island in the River) as shown below:
2. Go to time slider icon on the menu bar at the top of screen.
3. To select the historical images Click on the time slider icon to see the time slider tool to appear and observe the island marked.
b.. Click the slider button on the left to travel back in time – 8/9/2015
c. continue to click the button to move back in time – 1/9/2010
d. Continue to click the button backwards – 1996
e. Continue to click the backward button – 1989
f. You would observe that the island marked was not there in 1989 but appears big enough in 2016.
