About Add-on features in a browser
An add-on is an extra feature added to enhance the primary program by adding some extra features. For example, the Mozi lla Firefox browser supports ad -ons like Google toolbar, Adblocks etc. to the program. Most of the ad-ons can be simply installed by selecting them in the browser. Ad-ons are also called ‘Extensions’ or ‘Ad Ins’ or ‘Plug –Ins’ in different software.
To enable various Add-on features in Mozilla Firefox browser, follow he steps given below:
- Open Mozilla Firefox and click Open Menu icon.

- Click Add-ons from the list of displayed options.

- From the left side of the browser window, click Get Add-ons to add new any new add-ons on the computer.

- A list of Add-ons will be displayed on the right side as shown below:

- Push the Toggle-Switch of Block ads towards right side and a tick mark will be displayed.

Once Block ads is turned on, the following pop-up message is displayed.

To turn it off, push the toggle switch towards the left side. It will be disabled.

Adding Extensions
More features called Extensions ( a type of Add-on) can be added to the browser. This helps to alter the existing functionality of the browser. Follow the steps given below to search and add extensions:
- Open Browser (Mozilla Firefox) and click Open Menu icon.

- Click Add-ons from the displayed options

- Click Get Add-ons on the left and scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click on See more add-ons! button.

- Click Alerts & Updates from Categories.

- Click on Tab Auto Refresh extension and then click Add to Firefox button.

- A pop-up showing the download progress bar is displayed. Click Install button to install the extension.

The extension will be installed in your browser. The icon for this extension can be seen before Open Menu icon on the top right of the browser.

Managing Add-on features in a browser
As mentioned before Plugins are also Add on extensions. These are shared libraries that can be installed to display content that the browser is not displayed by default. For example, the Adobe Reader plugin helps to open PDF files directly inside the browser or Flash Player plug in helps to view the videos in the browser window.
To install a plug-in, follow the steps given below:
Open Browser (Mozilla Firefox) and click Open Menu icon. Click Add-ons from the list of displayed icons.

- Click Plugins from the list of options displayed on the left side of the screen.

- Type the plugin (example: reader) to be installed in the Search box and click search icon.

- The following page containing list of available reader plugins is displayed.

- Choose the plugin - Better Reader and click Install button.
- The installation process will start. The following screen will be displayed after installation is complete. The icon of the installed plugin will be displayed near Home icon. It has Disable and Remove buttons. Click Remove button if the plugin has to be permanently removed. Click Disable button to just disable it.

If the plugin is removed, the following screen will be displayed with a message Better Reader has been removed.
