Internet- Navigating a Website using Hyperlinks

Navigating a Website using Hyperlinks
Hyperlink is the highlighted text that is used to link one web page with another. Most of the time, hyperlinks appear as underlined words/ phrases in blue colour but one can also find hyperlined images, videos, animations or menu items/tabs. As the mouse pointer is placed on the hyperlinked text or image, the mouse pointer changes to a pointing finger. The screenshot below shows the hyperlinked text (in red boxes).

Click on any of the hyperlinked text/image/video. The target webpage/ image will open up within few seconds. On the top left corner of the browser window, there are following navigation buttons :

Fig: Navigation buttons

  • Forward button : to go to the next browsed page
  • Back Button : to go to the previously browsed web page
  • Refresh Icon : to reload the web page
  • Scroll Bars : to move up/down the screen

Thus hyperlinks form the very core of the World Wide Web. We can navigate from one web page to another
The following example explains how to open the website of epathshala and navigate through its web pages.
Step 1 : Open any browser and type the URL www.epathshala.nic.in in the address bar. The home page as shown below appears:
