Line
graph
A line graph is
ideal for raw data and useful for charts with plentiful data that
show trends or changes over time where you want to emphasize
continuity. A line chart shows values as points on the Y-axis and the
X-axis shows categories. The Y values of each data series can be
connected by a line.
For example:
Consider the data
set given in handout 3 - sheet named ‘line graph’. It shows data
of the weight of a person in each month for 9 months. When we plot
the line graph of the given data we can clearly see the pattern in
which weight increases or decrease in 9 months.
Basically a line
graph is a graph that shows information that is connected in some way
(such as change over time).
Plotting a line
graph
-
Select the data given in a spreadsheet (Refer handout 3 for data)
-
Select the insert option from menu bar and select chart from the options
Note:
In some version, you may not find chart in the list under insert. In
that case, select object from the list and then charts.
-
There appears the chart wizard which shows the chart type. Now select the option line from the list given under ‘Choose the chart type’ and click on finish.
-
Chart appears on the spreadsheet.
